50% progress achieved....

Assalamualaikum

Alhamdulillah..praise to Allah.... We have achieved 50% progress as of today. Verified by architect and we have disbursed another RM 31500.00 to the contractor. In total we had paid RM 48k.

Brothers and sisters...

We thank you for the contribution..monetary, moral support and off course your Doa. We are still striving to deliver this project as fast.. We still are praying hard for to get a bit more contribution...mainly to enable rebuilding of toilet and to purchase the PA system. It's great if you can help us to pass the baton to anyone who would like to take this opportunity to contribute... In sya Allah...only HE can reward you with barakah and rahmah...

3 things we will leave behind.... Anak solehah, ilmu yang bermanafaat and sedekah jariah. In sya Allah... 

P/s it's heartwarming to hear from our contractor that he saw bus loads of Muslims made their stops there, using our toilet when he was there last week.... In sya Allah... This surauhajiali will be utilised and in sya Allah will be granted barakah... Hopefully we can complete this soonest ... So that users can start praying there again..

In between the storms....

Assalamualaikum

Dear brothers and sisters , pillars to our little project..

We have not been updating for sometime, and we seek apology for that..however the progress of our little project did not stall.

Alhamdulillah.... In between the the downpour and storms in Terengganu, our contractor, our architect,  tn haji that is helping us to monitor progress have moved on quite significantly. 

Soon after the site cleared, we had the land surveyor in KT with our architect to revalidate the Qiblah position. Syukur.. Some alignment made and in sya Allah, we have got it sorted.

At the same time collections keep coming,,,from friends near us, from brothers far away ( even from Dubai :) ), from uncles and aunties at home... Alhamdulillah... May Allah reward all of you with barakah... In sya Allah.

As physical progress can be sighted, excitement from those who want to be part of the project, taking the opportunity to contribute increases. We have got commitment for bricks, paint and tiles .... Jazakallah...

For us, this is a great motivation to move on..

We do get update from our contractor regularly...and when progress was slow as it has been raining we were worried... The feeling of holding the ' Amanah'  from everyone is really huge to carry..

Ya Allah...please make this easy for all of us..to complete this project as soon so that the surauhajiali can be used again sooner....

Slowly but progressing..

As of yesterday, construction of the walls has started. In sya Allah, with doa from all, the surauhajiali will be back for use soon.

Ready for Phase II

Assalamulaikum Brothers & Sisters, Family & Friends..

EID MUBARAK... May the spirit of "Qurban" and the serenity of wukuf @ Arafah gives us the strength to move further with our little SurauhajiAli project.

All praises to ALLAH..alhamdulillah... the demolition work has been completed as plan. Here's the pic.

The surau's main building has been completely brought down except the toilet ( see pic). Based on the quoted sum and our collection, we may have to make do with the current toilet for now... In sya Allah, with HIS help, we may get more people wanting to take this opportunity to contribute ..then..we will see if we can also redo the toilet, as planned.

The above worked was done at the cost of RM 2000 which has been fully paid to Bro Shaari, a local guy there. The remnants which are still usable will be taken by the Pakcik ( that has wakaf this land) to mend another surau somewhere else.

Phase II

Our contractor, the Architect and us will meet this Sunday, 20th Oct, at the site. The site will be handed over to the contractor to start the construction work..Rabbi Yassir Walaa Tuassir..

We will also do the confirmation ( with the architect and contractor) of the building exact location - recalibrating to Qiblah.

Please join us to Dua' that this work will be smooth, weather permits and workers are safe. In sya Allah.

Putting real meaning into Qurban

............... sacrifice is a form of characte building. Muslims would be able to better themselves through this act of devotion. This is mentioned in verse 2 of Surah al-Kauthar in the Quran:

 "Therefore to thy Lord turn in prayer and sacrifice."

Alhamdulillah.. We received more today... Making our total collection RM 71k. All praise to Allah that has making this easier for us.

Ya Allah, berkatilah sahabat2 kami dan keluarga mereka yang the meng'infaq'kan milk mereka pada surauhajiali Ini. Semoga dapat KAU limpahi mereka dengan kesihatan yang baik dan rezeki yang melimpah ruah... Aamiin

Dear Brothers and Sisters, who are with us as part of this project or will soon be one... May Allah's blessings be with you and family , In sya Allah.

Apologies for the long silence .. Not that we have lost our enthusiasm but rather was running around to execute our plan.

Alhamdulillah ... We met few contractors and we finally decided to engage a contractor who is also wanting to contribute to this as his " Saham akhirat". We had also gotten the architect to meet this contractor and again, Alhamdulillah, we had come to consensus.

Our contractor is En Zainuddin Awang, a class A contractor. We have known him since our school days. We need to have a reliable one as this is a huge Amanah from all of you. The quotation without tiling is about RM80k.Much higher than our collection to date but it should not be a deterrent. We believe Allah will ease it for us , in sya Allah... With Dua' from all of you...in sya Allah we will see our very own surauhajiali soon.

As soon as we engaged the contractor, we then agreed to get a local brother to proceed with the demolishing job. We negotiated for RM 2k for the scope of demolishing and site clearing.

We have also informed Jabatan Agama Islam Trg of our plan and had even extend a copy of the plans to them. 

Alhamdulillah..... We are happy to report that Abg Saari had started the demolishing work on Monday 7th Oct 2013.

As the work progress.. A Pakcik had come forward pledging to supply the bricks. Jazakallah...may Allah bless him with mercy..always.

Meanwhile, we would like to seek apologies from the muslimah group that has to move their classes from the surauhajiali. Thank you Chu, the surau caretaker that has volunteered her own house for the classes... Semoga Allah merahmati Chu dan keluarga.

Alhamdullilah as off now we have collected almost RM 61k for the above. I have met 2 contractors and they have given their indicative pricing. The price is way above my original target.

This wont stop us from proceeding. In sha Allah we will be meeting another contractor today or tommorow. We hope to be able to get a reasonable quote from him.

With the amonut of contribution that we have got, we shall start the work soon.

Again, we appreciate all the contributions and it give us a lot of energy and hope to make this happen.

May the Almighty rewards us on this intention.

Alhamdulillah, May ALLAH reward our dear friends that has taken the OPPORTUNITY ..

In all honesty, personally , it looks like a huge dream to us...

ربي يسر ولا تعسر ,ربي تمم بالخي

Everything starts somewhere...just like us, in life.At age of 3, probably , we would have seen fasting in the whole of Ramadhan as far fetch... we started to do few hours, half a day and there you go...full day..in no time , full month  with terawih , tahajjud and the list of goes on , In sya Allah...

An opportunity.....

                           

Bandingan (derma) orang yang membelanjakan hartanya pada jalan Allah, ialah sama seperti sebiji benih yang yang tumbuh menerbitkan tujuh tangkai tiap-tiap tangkai itu pula mengandungi seratus biji. Dan (ingatlah) Allah akan melipat gandakan pahala bagi sesiapa yang dikehendakiNya, dan Allah Maha Luas (rahmat) kurniaNya lagi Meliputi ilmu pengetahuanNya.

The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.

Surau Haji Ali

Dear Friends,

The attached pictures are the pictures of Surau Haji Ali. A Surau situated along Jalan Losong Haji Su in Kuala Terengganu, the location with it’s very famous Keropok Lekor.

Some History…

The original Surau was built by a Kelantanese called Haji Ali,  who migrated from Kelantan to Terengganu in the early 1800. The base of the Surau has been there for more than 150 years. During the Japanese occupation the Surau was completely destroyed due to bombing. There is still an indication of a hole underneath the surau.

Hj Ali , the founder of the surau has Wakaf the land for this surau, hence there should not be any issue for us to rebuilt it. The caretaker is a relative to him and is fully aware of the wakaf.

Current…

As the surau is located along the main road, the surau is still alive. At times, busloads of tourist stop by to perform their prayers or to refresh as they visited one of the Terengganus’s tourist attraction – Keropok Lekor Losong. Daily prayers are being observed by a voluntary imam.

On a weekly basis two classes are being conducted here ( Quran and Hadith), again on a voluntary basis by local scholars. Average 20 to 25 women attend the classes consistently.

When I visited the place, I was very sad with the state of its washrooms and cleanliness.

I gathered few friends and try to get some assistance to clean up the area and do some repairs to the place, however, this is what we saw ,

1. The two toilets need a complete re do

2. The Surau’s wall is being infested by termites

3. Some of the floors are spoilt or almost rotten

4. Few of the wooden beams underneath the Surau are being infested by termites

5. I was told by one makcik that possibly the kayu thats holding the roof are being infested by termites.

I tested the firmness of the floor and I could feel it is not stable.

Looking at the state of the Surau  and the frequency of utilization,  I discussed with few friends and we are proposing to completely re built the Surau. I personally spoke to the caretaker and both of them agreed if we want to rebuilt it. In fact , there were teary eyes of happiness to this proposal. She ( a 70 year old widower) is not well to do, but has been taking care of the Surau throughout her life.

She is aware of the termites and was very sad if the Surau find its way down.

The Surau is now located on a 30feet x 50 feet land fully fenced.

I told her if we rebuild this it may take about 2 months , hence classes are to be postpone for a while. She said that’s ok and she will inform the Ustaz and the jemaah.

I have managed to get a contractor that agrees to do it and I am now seeking a help from a draughtsman to do the necessary design and layout

The details of the new intended Surau will be as follow. This is not final. It will depend on the amount of money we can raise;

1. Size of the prayer hall 20x30

2. 2 toilets and 1 shower room

3. Ablution for Men and Women

4. Area for babies – ie changing diapers etc

5. A proper drainage and trash bins

6. A basic PA system for azan

7. Basic electrical items like fans n lighting

At the same time I have managed to get a proper caretaker of the Surau to ensure cleanliness.

The estimated costing of the Surau will be around RM 60k to 70k

If we have some extra we will use it to maintain the Surau. 

There is no luxury but the Surau will be very well maintained and serve as a good example of a clean yet practical place.

I am taking this opportunity to appeal to my friends who wants to contribute in rebuilding Surau Haji Ali. A hope from its caretaker, a hope for us to balance our life, a hope that the Surau will be a place that allows our brothers and sisters to perform their obligations..

Life is too short in accumulating good deeds. I believe all of us can do this together...
